Objective: This course provides a foundation for understanding the fundamental legal principles governing contractual agreements, property transactions and interactions within the consumer environment.

The course explores key aspects of contract formation, interpretation, enforceability and remedies, enabling students to understand and apply legal principles relevant to consumer and property transactions.

The course also develops practical communication and dispute-management skills by introducing techniques for negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution and incident de-escalation. Students will explore approaches such as active listening, emotional intelligence, identifying common ground, managing differing perspectives, negotiating appropriate outcomes, resolving disputes constructively and using de-escalation techniques to manage challenging interactions.

Together, these skills support students to communicate professionally, manage contractual and consumer disputes, and work towards appropriate outcomes while operating within relevant legal and organisational requirements.

Duration: 2.5 hours to complete the online learning module. A further 30 minutes is allocated to complete the small Quiz.

Pass Mark: 80% pass mark overall.
